Powerful cold-season gusts brought walls down onto flimsy tents sheltering Palestinians uprooted by conflict in Gaza, claiming the lives of at least four individuals. These deaths underscores the perilous situation that persist after more than two years of intense airstrikes and severe lack of aid.

Ceasefire Offers No Respite from Harsh Elements

Although a ceasefire has been in effect since October, humanitarian organizations report that Palestinians do not have the adequate housing necessary to withstand frequent cold-weather events.

Medical staff at Gaza City's largest medical facility, which received the bodies, reported on this week that the deceased include a pair of adult females, a young female, and a male adult.

Separately, the local health authority stated on the same day that a one-year-old boy died of hypothermia overnight.

"The world has allowed us to witness death in every possible way," said Bassel Hamouda following the burial. "While it is correct the shelling may have paused for now, but we have witnessed all imaginable reasons of fatality in the world in the Gaza Strip."

Family Buried in Shelter Collapse

According to Shifa hospital, 3 people of a single family — elderly a man, his teenage granddaughter, and his daughter-in-law — were killed when an eight-metre high wall collapsed onto their dwelling in a area near the sea of Gaza City. At least five others were hurt in the event.

Their relatives on Tuesday started removing the rubble that had entombed their family and rebuilding the temporary homes for survivors.

Humanitarian Efforts and Ongoing Emergency

United Nations agencies and its humanitarian partners were distributing tents, plastic sheeting, blankets and clothing as well as nutrition and hygiene supplies throughout Gaza, said the UN office for the coordination of humanitarian affairs.

Another Cold Season of Hardship

Gaza’s residents of more than 2 million individuals has been fighting to fend off the freezing temperatures and storms away while facing lack of assistance and a absence of more substantial temporary housing, which is badly required throughout the colder season.
